Edison Disc Phonograph Model C-200 “Adam,” oak cabinet, c. 1916-1919.

This phonograph was in very poor condition cosmetically, but I personally loved the style of this model and thought it was absolutely worthy of a complete restoration. An enormous amount of effort was needed on the woodwork but the results were worth it.

The lid had missing veneer areas and quite bad water damage:

Here a new strip of veneer is added along the back, along with numerous small edge fills. Note that the corner of the lid had damage and replacement oak was grafted in place and shaped by hand (shown below). The repairs look obvious at this stage, but they are blended in with the old wood in the finishing stage.

Decorative trim is often missing. The replacement below was shaped by hand.
